Storytelling Beyond Words:- IMI Unveils Curated Emirati and Arab Art Collection at Its Yas Island Headquarters

Abu Dhabi, UAE

As part of its mission to bring the world closer through the power of storytelling, IMI has partnered with Khawla Art and Culture Foundation and Barjeel Art Foundation to showcase a curated collection of artworks by leading Emirati and Arab artists.

The collaboration reflects IMI’s belief that art is a universal language — a visual form of storytelling that transcends borders, deepens understanding, and connects communities across cultures. Displayed throughout its iconic state-of-the-art headquarters, the collection invites employees and guests to engage with regional creativity, identity, and innovation.

Rania Masri, Chief Brand and Marketing Officer at IMI said: “Throughout history, art has played a vital role in influencing media, news, and journalism, as it visually communicates complex social, political, and cultural narratives. We are proud to partner with prominent foundations like Khawla Art and Culture and Barjeel Art Foundation, both of whom share our vision to highlight local talent and provide a platform to amplify their voices. We see art not just as expression, but as a catalyst for connection, dialogue, and creativity — values that lie at the core of our purpose.”

IMI’s collaboration with Khawla Art and Culture celebrates the vision of a new generation of Emirati artists. At the centre of the collection are two stainless steel sculptures, Dream and Knowledge, by Her Highness Sheikha Khawla bint Ahmed Khalifa Al Suwaidi. Rendered in a stylised, pixelated form, the works evoke a spirit of ambition and intellect, inspired by themes of technology and artificial intelligence. The collection also features works by Azza Al Qubaisi, Alyaziya Al Nahyan, Jumaa Al Hajj, and Omar Al Gurg — each contributing a unique voice to the evolving story of Emirati art.

Rayan Hakki, General Manager at Khawla Art and Culture, said: “At Khawla Art and Culture, we are dedicated to nurturing the cultural landscape of the UAE by creating meaningful opportunities for artistic talent. We are pleased to collaborate with IMI Media Group on this initiative, which reflects a shared commitment to creative excellence and cultural dialogue. Collaborations of this nature do not only reflect the present, they actively shape the future of the region’s cultural landscape.

We look forward to continuing this journey with IMI and building platforms that celebrate and advance artistic expression across the UAE and beyond.

IMI’s collaboration with Barjeel Art Foundation features a compelling selection of contemporary works, including those by Abdul Rahman Al Ma’aini, an Omani artist who employs intricate brush techniques in his vibrant paintings; Lara Baladi, whose interdisciplinary narratives blend photography, sculpture, and memory; Nasser Nasrallah, who reinterprets everyday objects through playful structure; Fouad Agbaria, whose work captures the lived experience of Palestinians; Hashel Al Lamki, who explores the human relationship with nature; and Musab Al Rais, whose abstract pieces incorporate symbols of Emirati identity in bold, modern forms.

Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, Founder of Barjeel Art Foundation, Shajrah, commented: “It is a pleasure to work with a global media group like IMI that recognises the value of art in shaping collective understanding. By integrating Arab art into its environment, IMI is creating space for cultural dialogue and ensuring these stories are not only seen, but truly experienced.”

In addition to its art partnerships, IMI has also collaborated with prominent furniture designers to complement the cultural narrative woven throughout the space. Pieces by renowned Emirati designers Aljoud Lootah and Khalid Shafar are featured in the Welcome Centre, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Their works tell stories of identity, heritage, and innovation through form and material — from sadu weaving to palm-inspired structures. These selections not only celebrate Emirati creativity but enhance the immersive experience of the headquarters.
