The Senior Data Visualization Journalist would join The National's new data and forensic team. This role is perfect for a data-driven storyteller eager to work on impactful investigations, create compelling narratives, and enhance digital storytelling through innovative visualizations.

Degree title
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Data Science, or a related field
Key Responsibilities
- Design Collaborate with editors and reporters to uncover and develop data-driven stories.
- Analyze, clean, and visualize data to produce engaging content for The National’s digital platforms.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of data-driven reporting through rigorous fact-checking.
- Create and pitch original data investigations, introducing fresh, innovative ideas.
- Work closely with designers and developers to craft interactive visual stories.
- Provide news insights and context on major events through data analysis.
- Contribute to The National’s social media strategy with tailored data visualizations.
- Uphold journalistic ethics and best practices in all reporting.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Data Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in data journalism.
- Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, and data visualization tools (Flourish, Tableau, D3.js, Adobe Illustrator).
- Experience with HTML or custom CMS platforms is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to simplify complex data for broad audiences.
- Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
- Proven expertise in data storytelling, with a strong portfolio.
